Delete your account and data

Here you can find out how to delete your Barnaby account and the associated data — either directly in the app or, if you no longer have the app installed, by email request.
1. Delete in the app (recommended)
If you have the Barnaby app on your device, delete your account as follows: open the app and go to Settings → Manage account → Delete account. After a short security confirmation, your account is deleted permanently.
2. Delete without the app (by email)
No longer have the app installed? Send us an informal deletion request to datenschutz@barnaby.at. Please write from the email address you registered with and include your username so we can clearly identify your account. We will then delete your account within 30 days and confirm the deletion by email.
3. What gets deleted
When you delete your account, we remove your account, your profile, your dogs, your walks including routes and photos, and your messages. Your comments are anonymised — they appear as “Deleted user”, with no reference to you. Uploaded photos and technical residual data are removed afterwards within 30 days. Copies in backups expire with the backup retention period, at the latest 30 days after deletion.
Deletion is final and cannot be undone.
4. Just pause instead of delete?
If you only want to take a break, you can deactivate your profile in the app instead (Settings → Manage account → Deactivate profile). Your profile is then hidden; the next time you sign in, everything is back.
