What the home zone does
The home zone is a radius around the start and end of your walk. When it is active, that first and last stretch is trimmed before anyone else sees the route. Your shared walk therefore starts “somewhere in your area”, never at your front door. How large the radius is, you decide yourself.
Importantly, you keep the full route for yourself — distance, duration and statistics are calculated from the real walk. Only the published view is trimmed. You lose nothing.
The other layers of protection
- Sharing is your call, per walk: every walk can be posted — or not. Nothing is published automatically.
- Private account: set to private, only approved followers see your posts.
- The full route stays yours alone: only the published view is trimmed. Your own walk stays complete.
- Recording only happens during a walk: without an actively started walk, no track is created — no background tracking.
Set it once, then it just runs
In the settings you decide whether the home zone is active, how large the radius should be and whether the start, the end or both are blurred. That value acts as the default for every new walk — you never have to think about it again. And if one individual walk should be handled differently, you change it right when finishing that walk, for that walk only.
